Welcome Dinner, Poolside, Marriott Resort

Wednesday, 10 May @ 6:30pm - 10:30pm

The QELA Conference 2017 Welcome Dinner is hosted poolside among the tropical planting at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa. Traditionally a relaxed and fun evening, the Welcome Dinner and Welcome Dinner After Party give registrants a chance to catch up and mingle.

COST: Included in the Full Conference Registration and Wednesday Day Registration.

Additional tickets: $80 per person and includes seafood buffet dinner and 2hr beverage package.

Gala Dinner, Level 77, Skypoint, Q1

Thursday, 11 May @ 7:30pm - 11:30pm

The QELA Gala Dinner is the highlight social event of the Conference and greatly anticipated each year. For the 2017 Conference, the Gala Dinner will be held at Sky Point, on Level 77 of the Q1 Building. QELA have exclusive use of Level 77 and evening is ‘black tie formal’ to make the most of the impressive location.

COST: Included in the Full Conference Registration and Thursday Day Registration.

Additional tickets: $180 per person and includes 3 course dinner and 4hr beverage package.

Study Tour - History & Management of Southport Spit

Thursday, 11 May @ 9am - 10:30am

The morning will involve a brief presentation of the processes involved in coastal management, community consultation and dune restoration for the area, a tour of the sand bypassing system and the management involved to ensure safe recreational activities on the Broadwater. The morning will conclude with a hands-on dune planting activity and learning about dune ecology, formation and human impact.
QELA will provide a bus for Study Tour participants. This will depart at 8.40am and return to the hotel at 10.45am
The Griffith Centre for Coastal Management is based at the Griffith University Gold Coast Campus in Southport and conducts studies on coastal hazard management, coastal dynamics, coastal and estuarine modelling and coastal management.

Teppanyaki Lunch, Misono Restaurant, Marriott Resort

Thursday, 11 May @ 11.15am - 12:45pm

The highly trained Misono chefs are known as entertainers as well as culinary masters and create an unforgettable dining experience every time as they slice, dice and juggle utensils, while tossing prawns and eggs. A range of teppanyaki banquets are prepared at your table featuring combinations of fresh seafood, tender steak and succulent chicken. All banquets are served with signature miso soup, followed by salad, prawn appetiser, hibachi vegetables and steamed or fried rice.

Morning Golf, Palm Meadows Golf Course

Thursday, 11 May @ 6:00am - 12:50pm

Our annual golf morning will be at Palm Meadows, with tee off times starting nice and early at 6.00am. QELA will supply a bus to take you there and host lunch at the Course Clubhouse. Golfers will return to the Marriott by 12.50pm.

COST: $55 per person, includes course fees, breakfast on the go, lunch at the Clubhouse and transfers. Please provide your own clubs, or arrange hire clubs direct with Palm Meadows

Sushi Making Class, Misono Restaurant, Marriott Resort

Thursday, 11 May @ 9.30am - 10.30am

If you've ever wanted to learn how to make delicious sushi rolls, then this Japanese cooking class is perfect for you. Misono is opening their doors especially for QELA delegates who wish to learn the tips and tricks from the experts.

COST: $44 per person
